Ten 2017 Book Releases for the First Half of the Year

Posted December 13, 2016 by Adalyn in Top Ten Tuesday / 14 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is: books You’re Looking Forward to for the First Half of 2017. There are so many wonderful books coming out in 2017, it’s impossible to choose! Seriously, I could make a list of just anticipated releases for the first two months. All the 2017 book releases sound so good, eek! Caraval, Roseblood, and Wintersong did not make this list because I have ARCs of all three of them, but if not, they all would’ve been at the top of my list. 🙂

wayfarer

It seemed that Passenger had pretty mixed reviews, but I loved it. I’m super excited to read Wayfarer in January. I’m even going to a book singing in my area with her and Susan Dennard the day before my birthday!

kings-cageGlass Sword wasn’t great, however, I really enjoyed Red Queen. I’m hoping King’s Cage is as good, if not better, than the first. The premise of this series is fascinating. I’m excited to see how everything goes down.
brittany-cavallaro

A Study in Charlotte was SO good! I’m really looking forward to reading The Last of August next year. I don’t know much about Sherlock Holmes in general, but the first book in this series was wonderful, so I’m crossing my fingers this one won’t disappoint.

always-and-forever-lara-jean

Did Lara Jean bother anyone else ever? She acted really childish and whiny in the past two books, but they’re so charming at the same time. I really want Lara Jean to grow up a bit in this book while they still maintain their sweet charm!

alex-and-eliza

I’ve only read one Melissa de la Cruz book and that was Something in Between, but I really want to read Alex and Eliza! It’s a YA story about Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler and squeeeee! I can’t wait! I think we all know by now just how much I love Hamilton 😉

a-court-of-wings-and-ruin

Okay, but how could this book not be on my list! My most anticipated 2017 release is A Court of Wings and Ruin. I’m also really nervous. But I am worried it’s all gonna go wrong. Knowing Sarah J. Maas, it can’t disappoint.

flame-in-the-mist

This book sounds AMAZING! After falling in love with The Wrath and the Dawn duology, I know this book is going to be everything I expect it to be and more. A Flame in the Mist sounds likes its going to be, well, amazing. I mean, c’mon, this is Renee Ahdieh we’re talking about after all.

the-crowns-fate

I enjoyed The Crown’s Game, and though it wasn’t the best, I’m counting down the days to The Crown’s Fate. With the way book one ended, I seriously need to know what happened. I really need to get my hands on The Crown’s Fate because book one was such a cliffhanger!

lord-of-shadows

Cassandra Clare is a writing QUEEN! Her books are absolutely perfect. The Shadowhunter world is getting a bit tiring, but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to Lord of Shadows. Lady Midnight was one of my favorite reads in 2016. I have a feeling (just kidding, I know without a doubt) Lord of Shadows will be, if not better, just as good.

now-i-rise

And last but not least, I’m really looking forward to the sequel to Kiersten White’s And I Darken, Now I Rise. The first book was really good (and totally worth the hype), so of course this book will be as awesome. Lada is one of the fiercest characters, so I’m looking forward see how it turns out.

What are some of your most anticipated releases for the beginning of 2017? Any I missed (and I know I missed a lot)?Make sure to link your TTT post below as well!

  1. I am BEYOND excited for the Last of August! A Study in Charlotte was such a great mystery, and I’m pumped to see her and Watson solve another one! I HIGHLY suggest you watch BBC’s Sherlock before TLoA comes out, I just watched it a few weeks ago and I fell in LOVE and it made me ever MORE hyped for TLoA. Cool post!

Yay! It makes me happy to see more people excited for The Last of August as well. I feel like the only person who hasn’t watched Sherlock though. I’ve heard it’s amazing, I’ve just never really thought of watching it. I guess I’ll have to now though!

  2. So many great books on this list! I haven’t read any book by Alexandra Bracken and I really want to try The Darkest Mind hahaha also so many sequels which first books I haven’t even read I don’t know about King’s Cage though, just like you I really enjoyed Red Queen but I thoroughly disliked Glass Sword </3 The Las of August has a really gorgeous cover that matches A Study in Charlotte perfectly! Seriously want to own them 😀

I loved The Darkest Minds! You need to read it soon! 😉 I’m torn about King’s Cage, too, but I’m really excited to read it. I just hope that it’s better than Glass Sword. Aren’t those covers gorgeous?

  3. Always & Forever, Lara Jean, Flame in the Mist, and The Last of August are on my list as well! They all sound so amazing and I’m definitely adding some of your books to my TBR!

  4. I haven’t read any of Renée’s books yet but Flame in the Mist sounds amazing and I’m so excited. I thought I was tired of more Shadowhunter novels but Lady Midnight was amazing, so in reality I’m probably going to never be done with this awesome world. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is another series I’ve been meaning to start as well! Great list 😀

I feel the same way. Like, more Shadowhunter books, really? But then Lady Midnight came out and it was so AMAZING! Why did I ever doubt this book was going to be terrible? I’m so excited for Lord of Shadows though! You totally need to read The Wrath and the Dawn and To All the boys I’ve Loved Before. Both those series are so beautiful and sweet and addicting.

  5. Oh, amazing list! Most are also on my list, and those who aren’t I’m still really excited about 🙂 I can’t wait for Always and Forever, Lara Jean! And The Crown’s Fate! And Lord of Shadows (I will never get enough of Shadowhunters, especially if all books are as good as Lady Midnight) <3

Thanks! 2017 is going to be amazing for books! I thought I was done with the Shadowhunters, but then i read Lady Midnight and I realized, I don’t think I can ever be done with these books as long as Cassandra Clare continues to write them. They’re just so addicting and beautiful!

    • Adalyn

Yay! My list was SO long, too. It’s hard having to narrow it down, especially when there are so many sequels but also a lot of debuts/standalone and aghhh. I’m so excited for 2017!
