Ten Things I Love

Posted January 11, 2017 by Adalyn in Lists / 13 Comments

In honor of it being my birthday yesterday on January tenth, I thought I would share ten things I love. Now, there are quite a large number of things (that word really bothers me, so you know it won’t be on this last) that I could call my favorite, I want to share only ten. Whether they be books, tv shows, people, or albums, here are my ten favorite things, as of now.

Bloggings

Of course this is an obvious one, but I’ve only been blogging since late July. It’s already become one of my favorite things to do. I just love creating new posts and chatting with all my fellow bookworms about everything and anything reading (though not always).

Bookstagram

Another obvious item on my list. I joined Bookstagram in spring of 2015 and I’ve loved it ever since, though I didn’t really start to become serious about it until a year ago. I’ve discovered how fun photography really is—especially when what you’re photographing is a book.

Harry Potter

I confess that I always thought Harry Potter was dumb up until I finally gave in and read it last year. Since, I’ve fallen in love with the world of Harry Potter, the characters, the setting, the magic, everything about it. I am so glad I finally let go of my stubbornness and read this magical series.

History

My love of history didn’t surface until late spring/early summer of 2015. Thanks to Hamilton, I fell in love with the Colonial Era and American Revolutionary War, though that isn’t the only piece of history I love. I’ve always loved learning, but learning about historical events and people has recently become one of my favorite things to do.

Winter

The final installment in The Lunar Chronicles is a favorite of mine, but I’m talking about the season here. I just love winter and snow. Maybe it comes along with being born in the middle of winter, but it’s been my favorite season for as long as I can remember. I can also say that I am a proud member of the Winter Court, for those of you who have read Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

Musicals

This is a large category, but I couldn’t just choose one, or two, to list. My favorites are Hamilton, She Loves Me, Waitress, Les Misérables, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, and Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. Though I don’t have any skills when it comes to singing and acting, I love musicals and everything and anything broadway.

Dance

I started ballet again when I was in fourth grade and I’m ever so happy I did. I started doing jazz and contemporary dance afterwards as well and have fallen in love with all three styles so much. Only recently did I start en pointe but I’m absolutely loving it, though it can be painful.

Travel

One of my lifelong dreams has been to travel to Europe—and that dream is finally coming true later this year! I love travelling, and would love to do it more. One place I’ve always dreamt of visiting is London, or anywhere in the UK really. I hope someday to travel all across Europe.

Writing

I don’t know when my love for writing first began, but in the past few months I’ve only grown to love it more and more as I’ve been working on my own piece. Another one of my lifelong dreams is to become a published author. I’m ever so slowly getting closer and closer to achieving this goal.

The Crown

While this television series on Netflix has received a lot of hype, I don’t think enough people know about this show. It’s a television drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II when her father dies and she becomes Queen. I just recently finished this show after starting it back in November, and it’s absolutely wonderful. If you love history and great costume design as much as I do, I recommend you start watching this show immediately.

Here’s to another year! What are some of your absolute favorite things? Any other shows you think I should watch now that I’ve finished The Crown? Were you also incredibly late to the Harry Potter bandwagon? When is your birthday? Let me know down below!

  1. YAYYYY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADALYN HAVE SOME CAKES! <3 ahaha I love blogging too (obviously)! And bookstagram! And writing! AND WHY DID YOU THINK HP WAS DUMB??? Hahaha though I'm glad you fixed that I started watching the movies ever since I was really young but only started reading the book after the fifth book came out. I was in 7th grade by then so I guess… it was pretty early?haha I also love dancing. I used to be a traditional dancer but now I just like dancing randomly to random music 😛

  2. Happy birthday!!! I hope you had some delicious cake or whatever dessert you like most, and that you got a lot of books. We have so many of the same favorite things, which makes me think that I really need to watch The Crown. I’ve kept seeing people rave about it, but I have SO many shows that I need to watch that it’s kind of gotten pushed to the bottom of the list.

  3. Happy belated birthday!!! And what a nice idea for a post, spreading positive vibes 🙂 Obviously I agree with you about blogging, and I also love HP, musicals, and writing. I’m terrible at bookstagram though, and I actually hate cold weather, so winter is not for me lol. History I’m on the fence about. I never liked it before, it was pretty much my worst subject in school, but then, that’s because they always just forced us to memorize a bunch of dates and names. When I see stuff on Pinterest or something though, it’s interesting, and if it were taught in story form, like a book, I think I’d have been a lot more interested!

  4. Happy Belated Birthday, Adalyn! I love so many of these things, too. Yay for fellow history nerds! Winter is by far my favorite season. I grew up in an airline family, so I’ve always traveled frequently, and I wouldn’t trade it for the word. Travel is so important and so fulfilling. Ahhh, I so need to watch The Crown! So many of my friends have recommended it to me, and I’m a sucker for period pieces, so I know I’d love it.

Thank you so much, Madalyn! 🙂 Haha, yay! I was never all that interested in history until recently and now I love it so much. Winter is the best. Wow, that sounds like SO much fun! I really want to start travelling more once i’m older and I’ve moved out. The Crown is amazing! It’s one of the first period pieces I’ve ever really liked, but it’s sooo good.

  5. Happy belated birthday Adalyn!! I hope you had a great day. I’m glad that you finally gave into reading Harry Potter 😀 Yes Hamilton is one of my most favourite things ever. Now I know way too much about that era but no regrets!

Thank you so much, Emily! 🙂 I’m so glad I did too! Hamilton is the best. And it sparked my love for anything colonial/revolutionary war related, haha.

  6. Aw, I thought Harry Potter was stupid until I read it back in the sixth grade. I ended up giving in, and now it’s one of my favorite series ever. I had some weird aversion to everything popular when I was younger because I thought I was better than everyone else. So bad.

    • Adalyn

Same! I’m still so mad I did, too. When I was younger I wanted to be popular, so…. That lasted about one month before I realized that I was just being kind of stupid. Whoops. I’m so glad I ended up reading it though because it’s such a great series and it means so much to me now.

  7. Oooh I’ve heard so many great things about The Crown! One of my friends back at school really loves it. (That’s the one with Matt Smith in it, right?) I’m taking a class on Renaissance Poetry this semester, so it would be perfect to watch.

    • Adalyn

It’s amazing! Yeah, he is in it. That sounds like a lot of fun, too. The Crown is absolutely amazing, so you should for sure watch it! 😀
