The Les Misérables Book Tag

My love for Les Mis only continues to grow. As I’m writing this, I’m listening to the cast recording on repeat. Actually, I have a playlist with two cast recording and the movie cast recording, so I’m listening to all three of them. Anyways, I thought the Les Mis book tag would be perfect to do right now because it’s all I’ve been listening to lately. This tag was created by the lovely Eve over at Twist in the Taile. You can check out the original post here!

There are many books that exceed my expectations, live up to them, and do not live up to them. One book that most definitely did not live up to my expectations was Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I really liked the format of this book, but it was hard to follow and I just didn’t end up liking it. I still might read the Gemina though.

Do Manon and Abraxos from Throne of Glass count? I love those two so much! Abraxos is just so sweet, especially for a wyvern (which is a dragon-like creature from this world). I think they’re tied with Cinder and Iko from The Lunar Chronicles for my favorite duos. Cinder and Iko’s friendship is one of my all time favorite fictional friendships.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins is definitely one of my top comfort reads. Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After are as well. This is one of those series I could read a million times and love it even more than I did the previous time.

My thoughts on Illuminae are definitely unpopular opinions, but here’s another one: I did not like Nevernight by Jay Kristoff at all. It was really boring and I didn’t like the characters or the plot. This was another one I had such high hopes for, it just wasn’t what I expected. Side note: I did like Mia’s talking cat, but that was about it.

There was a lot of hype around Truthwitch before it released last January, which is really the only reason why I read it. I ended up quite liking it (I think I gave it three stars). I also met Susan Dennard recently, which was really fun! I’m glad I gave in to all the hype and ended up reading this one, even though it’s not the best.

I’m not lying when I say that right as I started writing this, One Day More actually came on! Anyways, one book I could NOT put down was A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I had really high expectations for this book and it totally exceeded them. It’s already become one of my new favorite books.

This is my absolute favorite song from Les Mis! Eponine, right along with Enjolras, is one of my favorite characters. I am still sad that Dorian and Aelin from Throne of Glass were never really canon, but I’m fine with it now. I’ve become a huge DorianxManon and AelinxRowan shipper since.

I’ve already listed one of my favorite friendships, but here’s one that’s not a duo: Blue and the Raven Boys from The Raven Boys! Their strong friendship just makes me so happy. They all love each other so much and are always there for each other and ahhh. I love all of them so much.

Inej from Six of Crows is one of my favorite characters ever and I will do anything to protect her. She’s such an awesome, sassy, fierce character. I love her so much. Another character I will do anything to see protected is Dorian from Throne of Glass. Gahhh I just love Dorian so much. Fun fact: Dorian was one of my first book boyfriends. XD

Harry Potter spoilers below!

I will never be over any of the deaths from Harry Potter. The ones that hit me the hardest though were Sirius, Dobby, Remus, Tonks, and Fred. Okay, that’s a lot of the main deaths from the series, but they all hit me really hard. I don’t think I can ever recover from any of them.

So, that was the Les Mis Book Tag! It’s been months since I last did a tag and I had a lot of fun doing this one!

Are you obsessed with Les Mis too? What’s your favorite song? Also, what’s one character death (or many) you will never get over? Let me know below!

  1. I’m DEFINITELY stealing this tag! I love Les Mis, and these questions are so great, so this tag is perfect and I need to do it. I totally agree about all of the deaths from Harry Potter, but the ones that hit me the hardest were Fred’s and Remus’s. I reread the books a few months ago and I didn’t think I would cry that time, but I was so wrong.

  2. Aah, I’m so glad you enjoyed this tag! It’s nice to see posts with it popping up every once in a while. (Because obviously books and Les Mis are the BEST combination, haha.) YES INEJ, I love her so much! <3 The friendship in The Raven Cycle is also awesome; I think I would just enjoy a whole book of the characters interacting and hanging out, to be honest.
