August ended a few days ago, so I’m kind of  late on posting this, I’m sorry. Once again, I read eight books. Like July, I would have liked to have read more, but I just didn’t have enough time.

what I read

Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations or all the hype. 2/5 stars

This was such a fun and enjoyable book. I loved the magic! 3.5/5 stars

Loved this one, though a bit slow and boring at points.  4/5 stars

A bit dull and boring, but still a fun read and book overall.  3/5 stars

This book was so much fun, and got me laughing out loud at many points. 4/5 stars

Such a beautiful and romantic story, I loved every bit of it. 5/5 stars

monthly recap

IMG_9198

What a great, yet very busy month, August was! My family moved into a new house a week ago, and I also started school on the 30th. Before that, I spent my time soaking up the last few days at our cabin. I also went up to Glacier National Park in Montana and Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada. Of course with me being busy a lot and doing tons and tons of packing and unpacking, I was not able to read as many books as I planned, but that’s alright. With school having just started, I’m hoping to keep reading 7-8 books monthly.

What books did you read and/or buy this month, and what are some fun things you did as well? I’d love to know in the comments!

  1. Read: Miss Peregrine’s (4 stars), Hollow City (2 stars), It Ends With Us (5 stars), Still Here (DNF), The Trilogy of Two (2 stars), Don’t Touch (3 stars), The Bone Witch (DNF).
Bought: Saga Vol 6, and a bunch of others (can’t get to my stack of books currently).
Fun things: went to a huge antique store with my husband & got some cool things, watched Stranger Things on Netflix, watched Shanara on Netflix, & prepared for my return to work.

  2. I can’t wait to hear what you think of The Raven Boys! And Cursed Child!

I have Rebel of the Sands on my TBR, and now I am worried. Maybe it’s a good thing that I’m not going to get to it until Christmas…

I’m loving it so much so far! I’m about 300 pages in, and I just got to the plot twist with Noah. I’ll probably have a review up later this week. 🙂 Cursed Child was just kind of meh, but it wasn’t bad, and I quote enjoyed it, hence the four stars. Rebel of the Sands wasn’t necessarily a bad book, it just didn’t wow me like so many others. I have a review here if you want to check it out. Thanks for stopping by! <3

  3. Ohhh what beautiful stacks of books! I LOVED This Savage Song and The Crowns’ Game and I’m 100% with you on the gorgeousness that is The Wrath and the Dawn. Ahhh!! Ohh, but that’s disappointing about Nevernight. I’m waiting impatiently for my order to arrive, but the hype has totally scared me. I hope it works for me?! But my expectations aren’t too high just in case.

ALSO THE RAVEN BOYS AFDJLAKSFDJ I LOVE THAT SERIES MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THE BOOKISH UNIVERSE.

Thanks (I think, haha)! All three of those books were amazing, for sure, but The Wrath and the Dawn was definitely the best. It hasn’t even been a month, and I’m already thinking of rereading it, that’s just how much I loved it. I think if I had gone into Nevernight with lower expectations I would have enjoyed it a lot more, I just found it so boring and confusing that I was just constantly skimming. I’m still sad this book didn’t work for me. I think I’m gonna have to try it again in a few years. And I’m LOVING The Raven Boys right now, but I’m only like 300 pages in. School just makes it so hard to get any reading done.
