September Wrap-Up

Posted September 30, 2016 by Adalyn in Books, Hauls & Wrap-Ups / 4 Comments

September went by way too fast for me. At the very end of August I started school and now I’ve pretty much fallen into my new routine. I also started pointe! how exciting is that? September has been a really great month for me even though I only read six books. I got a puppy and kitten (I nearly forgot that we got both of them at the start of this month and not last) as well! both of them are so sweet and adorable. <3

what I read

  • The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater- 5/5 stars

This book was so wonderfully amazing! I loved every little bit of it. The characters are amazing, though my favorites are still all of the Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom characters.

  •  Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas- 4.5/5 stars

I will say that I didn’t love this one as much as I loved Queen of Shadows (my favorite in the series), but it was still a great book! I cannot wait until next year when the final book releases.

  • The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka – 2/5 stars

Fun fact: this was the first audiobook I’ve listened to. We actually listened to it in school because my English teacher wanted to read it quickly before she went on a trip with another grade. I’ve decided I do not like audiobooks.

  • The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry- 3.5/5 stars

Wow, this book was so inspiring and touching yet dark at the same time. I loved the close friendship between Dolssa and Botille.

  • Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco – 4.5/5 stars

Everything I’ve ever wanted a book right here! This book was so good, and you all know how much I love historical fiction. On top of that it was super creepy, but not like horror creepy. I can’t read/watch anything horror.

  • The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater – 5/5 stars

I didn’t think it could get any better, but this book was even more amazing than the first. It was a little slow, but I found the whole dream Ronan thing to be super cool.

monthly recapaussie-and-mittens

I had so much fun this month it just flew right by. I started dance and also got my first pair of pointe shoes! I’m still very new to them and have only been doing simple beginners things at barre, but I’m still excited (they do hurt though…). Also, my family got a little Australian Cattle Dog/Red Heeler named Aussie, or Aussie “Bean”. She’s just the sweetest most adorable puppy ever. I also got a kitten named Mittens, who is about six months. We don’t know her exact age because she was a rescue. Sadly, Mittens isn’t allowed inside, but she loves to be outside and in the yard so it’s all good. While Aussie is my family’s dog, Mittens is pretty much mine. I’ve binged watched lots of Gilmore girls too, mainly on the weekends. I don’t normally have time to watch it during the week so on the weekends I’ll watch like fifteen episodes. I’m halfway through season five now! screen-shot-2016-10-01-at-9-10-07-amI found out my patronus is… a badger! I found that kind of interesting because a badger is like the Hufflepuff animal and I’m a Ravenclaw, hmmm. I’m also slowly but surely getting my friends into Hamilton #success. For those of you who don’t know, I am OBSESSED. I have a friend who loves it and one who is really starting to get into it, which makes me so happy! I’m Hamilton brainwashing (as JessetheReader calls it) them. 😉

What did you do this month, anything super fun or interesting? What books did you read/buy, and which was your favorite? I’d love to hear all about your month in the comments as well! 🙂

  1. Omg your dog is named Aussie Bean?!? My dog is ATTICUS BEAN. Like that’s so close, right?! We must be pet-naming-brain-twins *hi fives* Also Australian cattle dogs are fabulous creatures. Mine is a Schnauzer x Poodle. BUT SO CUTE. ALL THE LOVE OF ALL THE PUPPIES!! And ohhh I’m so glad you’re a Raven Cycle fan. *shrieks* That series is MY LIFE.

That’s so funny! Originally we were just going to call her Aussie but my mom added bean onto it and it just stuck, so now she’s Aussie Bean. 🙂 I used to have a yorkie poodle mix and he was just the sweetest thing, but never a schnauzer poodle. I’m loving The Raven Cycle so so so much so far, I’m hoping the next two books don’t disappoint either!

That’s too bad. 🙁 I absolutely love her writing style. I hope you have a great October, too!
